Woodland

We found a good spot to site our First Trail Cam

Wood Mouse

One of our first visitor's to our camera was this little wood mouse

Hedgehog

Nice to see a Hedgehog on the Trail cam

Hedgehogs are becoming a rare site these days

Here you can clearly see the Hedgehog rooting around in the Leaf litter for food

You get a closer look at the Hedgehog as it approaches the camera

Finally the Hedgehog has had his fill and ambles away in to the woodland

Cat

A domestic cat enters the small clearing probably looking for Mice & voles.

The rain starts and the Cat heads off home from the wood

Fox

A fox Vixen in the Clearing munching on the bird seed & biscuit mix we put out to attract the wildlife

She uses her sense of smell to locate the food in the dark

while feeding she always keeps alert listening out for Danger

Foxes are omnivores that eats a variety of food of both plant and animal origin

Like most omnivores a large part of there diet consists of fruit, invertebrates and seeds

Though when foxes do get the opportunity meat they will and Prefer to scavenge most of the time for road kill rather than exerting energy hunting

We named this Vixen Maxine and she featured in many of our films

Here you can see how delicately she moves the leaf litter with her nose to find food

The good thing about using very small items of food for the wildlife, is that it makes them work harder to find the food and keeps them in-front of the camera longer

She is quite happy sitting in front of the camera eating as you can see

By spreading the food around in front of the camera also gets the fox to root around for the food

We are definitely getting a good look at Maxine on the Camera

Though she is confident feeding here she is always alert

There is plenty of small seeds to keep here occupied for awhile longer

You can see foxes have long whiskers very much like a cat.
These specialized hairs aid vision and help a fox navigate its environment,
providing additional sensory input in the dark.

Foxes have an exultant sense of hearing and smell too

We are getting some good close ups of Maxine as moves closer to the Camera

you can see how she is picking up the food with her mouth and tongue here

She is using here tongue a bit like a cat does to pick up the small seeds

She keeps her nose to the ground as she searched the food out

If you listen carefully you can hear her feeding

Maxine has had her fill of food and heads off

Roughly an hour later she returns for a bit more food

She is giving Us a good show on how she uses all her senses to feed

She is datamined to sniff out every last morsel

That nose of hers is definitely working hard

We definitely found a good location in the wood for the wildlife on our first attempt of filming in Maximus wood

In this clip Maxine hears something in the leaf litter and it attracts her attention

Maxine finally leaves the clearing

A young fox cub enters the Clearing and is very choruses

Badger

Our first gimps of a Badger on Trail Cam
